Fig: is strongly associated with European culture. In Ancient Greece, cutting fruit bearing tree was punished with death, and Adam and Eve were dressed in fig leaf before they were thrown out of Garden of Eden. Fig tree has been cultivated by humans since Mesopotamian era. Figs are used to make jam, preserves, wine, compote, brew, and dried and roasted fruit are drunk as coffee. They are an ingredient of a popular mix of dried Mediterranean fruit. Fig juice (from leaves and branches) heals wounds and can also be used in production of cheese – compounds contained in fig milk cause the cheese to curdle (they function as rennet). Decoction from fig leaves is recommended in treatement of cough and cold. Very sweet fruit is a great source of energy for people who work hard and do sports. It contains B vitamins, vitamin C and a lot of potassium and iron. It's recommended for people having problems with heart and kidneys.
